1. I was the third girl born into my family and was named after my grandfather and my dad….my mom was hoping for a boy…..although “Leslie” is more commonly a girls’ name….it is indeed my dad and grandfather’s first names….my dad goes by his middle name, however….go figure.
2. I was born in October…..my favorite month of the year…..and am a true Libra through and through. I love people….all kinds of people….I want everyone to love each other…all the time. I love peacefulness and use to exhaust myself trying to keep everyone happy. With age and wisdom….and much distress….I have learned that I do not have the power to make others happy so I try to focus on my own happiness and empower others to find their happiness within them selves. I’m also VERY indecisive. It drives my husband crazy….although, he’s beginning to find it amusing and we often end up laughing about the agonizing process I put myself through to make even the most simple decisions.
3. Speaking of my husband……I never dreamed that I would love and be loved the way I am with him. he is my very best friend and the one person I’d rather be with than anyone else in the whole world. He makes me laugh….everyday…..he loves me better than I love my self……he inspires me to step out of my comfort zone…..thanks babe….I love being your wife!
4. I inherited this really deep wrinkle between my two eyes…..my mom has it…..it makes me look like I’m scowling but I’m not. My husband has a scar in the same place and when we first met, he thought I had a matching scar…..yes, he felt bad when I told him it was a WRINKLE! I’m totally not ever going to put botox into my body so I’m waiting for a safe substitute…..nothing out there yet…..
5. I feel the closest to God when I am at the ocean. I love the sound of the waves and the salt in the air. The ocean reminds me so much of God…..it’s beautiful, it’s magical, it’s powerful and peaceful all in one. It is the one place where I feel I can touch the hand of God….I can truly feel his presence in a way that is almost magical. Unfortunately, I rarely get to see the ocean so when I do…..I cherish every moment.
6. I worked all through high school so was not on a college prep path. When I got to college, I went straight to the biology table because I wanted to work with the Dolphins…..become a marine biologist. When the guy looked at my transcript, he chuckled and sent me over to the education table…..so….I became a teacher instead. I still dream of swimming with the dolphins some day. I think they are one of God’s most unique creations.
7. I’m 41 and have never had children. I love teenagers and am waiting for all of my friends to send me their kids when they hit adolescence. At times I feel very sad that I have never had children…..I’m in a bit of a grieving stage, I think. I still don’t want to have children but want to have a family…..not sure if that makes sense. The fact that women have a time line is one of the things I want to talk to God about when I get to heaven…..that and PMS/Menapause/chin hair….Eve is in BIG trouble when I get up there!
8. The closest thing to a child in my life is my dog, Sara. She fills my “child” hole and is so human like that I swear she talks to me! She makes me smile….just by looking at her and the laughter and fun she has brought into our home is priceless. I hope to train her to be a therapy dog soon. I believe all dogs go to heaven.
9. I use to crave sweets and hamburgers. Now…I crave salads….seriously. Most people think I eat healthy because of my profession but I actually prefer healthy food over unhealthy.
10. I love organic, very dark chocolate…..especially if it’s hugging a crisp almond. I have two pieces every night after my dinner.
11. I love earthy wines and my husband’s homemade beer. I can make one glass last for a long time……I savor each sip. I love having wine with sheep’s or goat’s cheese and a little dark chocolate at the end.
12. I hate feeling alone but love having time to my self.
13. I love anything outdoors…..nature is my heaven on earth.
14. Sunrise and sunset are my favorite parts of the day and my favorite things to photograph. I often applaud when I see them to let God know how much I enjoyed His show.
15. I cry easily….especially the older I get.
16.I love people. I believe in the human race and loving as Jesus loved. Even as a young person I never understood why everyone else didn’t feel that way. Racism baffles me….it grieves my heart. Unforgiveness seems so unnecessary. Hatred stings me to the core. I am passionate about life….about loving people …..about empowering others to embrace life and live it well……I feel so passionate about these things that sometimes I feel like I will explode….it’s hard to explain.
17. I am often fearful and worry alot. It has been that way since I was a small child. My mom is a worrier and so was my grand mother. I guess I got it from them. It is my daily battle within and the one part of my life I talk to God about almost every day. I surround myself with truth and peace and still find it to be a struggle but not near as bad as it use to be. I no longer fight it but try to learn from it…..I have found that every struggle in our life is an opportunity to grow…..it is our teacher…..we learn more by embracing our struggles than fighting them.
18. I play guitar…. a little….but not many people know. I learned so that I could sit and worship alone with God.
19. I would love to teach yoga some day.
20. I want to go sailing in the Caribbean and visit Europe.
21. I have two tatoos…..one is a butterfly that was free handed by a guy who was an amazing artist. It symbolizes new beginnings. The other one is a Celtic Cross…..I’d love to get a third one some day but running out of places that won’t sag when I’m 80.
22. I have had grey hair since I was in my early 20′s . I’m very thankful for organic hair color.
23. I love surprises……especially giving them…..but like getting them too.
24. I think….a lot.
25. In my head, I still believe I am 25 years old……it just seems weird to me to be getting older in age. I love being silly, playful and youthful. I hope to still be dancing, playful and childlike when I’m ninety! I don’t think we’re ever too old to keep learning new things.
